For a large number of men this is a very important question that can pray on their minds. Erect penis size, or lack of size and mass, is an issue that can cause periods of profound anguish.
In the early 1960s The Kinsey Institute (US) undertook a study into the average penis size of men. Although the men studied were of a restricted age and ethnic group - they were Caucasian college students - and represent a small sample of the US male population, the data collected is widely used in connection with this subject.
Another problem with the Kinsey Report is that each respondent was responsible for measuring their own erect penis - hardly a most accurate method. However the report enjoys a large degree of credibility and the results have been largely confirmed by subsequent surveys.
It must be said at this stage that the size of a man's penis varies according to his age. A male who has finished growing in height and build will have an erect penis that'll be at its maximum.
This period will last until a man's late 20s, and as he ages from here onwards, his penis will very gradually start its decline - it will be smaller in length and slimmer when erect; it won't be as hard; and it will lose its staying power.
These changes won't be recognizable until the man reaches his early fifties, but the changes will be taking place nevertheless. The primary cause of these changing conditions is that the body is producing less testosterone - a natural change that occurs with varying degrees in all men.
With this in mind it should be remembered that the figures compiled by Kinsey are of men in their early 20s - that is when their libido and the functioning of their sexual organs are at their highest level.
The report shows that the most common penis size range amongst the participants was from 5.5 inches to 6.5 inches. This size range included almost 55% of all men. However, about 20% of all men had an erect penis that was smaller than 5.5 inches, and included in this figure are 5% of surveyed men whose penis was smaller than 5 inches. For men within this latter range, then the problem of having a small erect penis would be a source of deep concern.
Kinsey also looked at the girth or circumference of the respondents' penises as well as the erect length. Again the largest majority of men, about 56%, fell within a defined range of 4.5 inches to 5.5 inches. The surveyed men whose penis girth was less than 4.5 inches numbered about 12%, with 4.5% of the total being less than 4.5 inches.
If these figures are extrapolated amongst all men, then there's a large number of men out there who could conceivably have problems in leading a satisfactory love life.
As can be seen from the Kinsey Report, a number of men in this survey have an erect penis length that is less than 5.50 inches. These men may think that their small penis size is unique to them, but this is far from the case. Many men, 1 in 5 according to Kinsey, share this problem.
More than likely these are the men who experience periodic difficulty in vaginally exciting their partners, although it must be said that a man with a penis larger than average may also have this problem. However, research has shown that most women prefer a man to have an erect penis that's bigger and thicker than the average.
These men would achieve enormous benefits by undertaking a program of penis enlargement using one of the proven methods such as a penis enlarger, herbal penis pills, or by signing up for a program of manual exercises.
From the comments posted about the success of these means of penis enlargement, it would seem the method that gives a permanent and quick result is the one involving a penis enlarger. However, a complete system that incorporates all three methods seems to get faster results.
